I.Am.Elizabeth (Sept. 2017)

Elizabeth of York died in 1503. Annie Campbell lives today. Can they reach through time to heal one another's soul, or will their secrets be impossible to overcome?

I.Am.Elizabeth, to be published by Neely Worldwide Publishing on September 1, 2017, is a novel of trust and love. It is a novel, based partially on historical events, that is contemporary in its setting. Let me take you back to the Wars of the Roses, and anchor you in the present as Annie and Elizabeth reach inside to find their truths, regardless of price.

About Me

My background

What do you do when you find yourself approaching the flip side of 60? You go after the dreams that you never thought you would. And so it was with me. What started as a blogging experience morphed into two non-fiction books and then two fiction books. My philosophy is "just do it."

I have also published articles on the subjects of aging and mental health. These are two subjects close to  my heart.

Creating a body of work has been exhilarating, and I couldn't have known how much I would grow from it. Life truly is the greatest teacher.

My writing roots

I began writing by starting a blog: A View from the Cheap Seats. I had no idea what I was doing, I was just exorcising demons on a computer screen. I found it to be more therapeutic than years of professional treatment, which I found a little bit unnerving.

Nevertheless, I kept moving forward and subsequently published two compilations of my blog work:

Heart Bleed: Letting Go and Stanching the Flow

The Best from the Cheap Seats.

I wanted to try my hand at fiction, but I've never considered myself that imaginative, and never thought I could ever write dialogue. As it turns out, I could, and I published

White Night and its sequel, Eternal Dawn.

Right now I'm working on a contemporary historical novel that embraces my family roots. It has been a fantastic experience, and I hope that my enthusiasm translates well in my new book, I.Am.Elizabeth, to be published by Neely Publishing, Inc. in September, 2017.

My style

My editor describes me as "intrepid," and I consider that a great compliment. When I do a non-fiction piece, I shoot from the hip and pull no punches. Most of the time, that is more to my detriment than my good, but if I feel I have a message to get out, that's how I do it.

My fiction work is much different. I work best with a general storyline in mind, and then refine it down. My fiction has tackled questions of morality, spirituality, life after death, love, and integrity.

I am not a conventional author, I write in a conversational style so that I can interact with my readers. If you're looking for high style, you won't find it in my work. I believe in the value of tightly crafted story - everything else will fall into place.

I guess that makes me a bit of a bohemian. And I'm good with that.
